Theme & store build
Full storefronts from an empty admin, or precise edits to the theme you already run. Written into the theme, not bolted on with another app.
Joshua De Vera — Shopify virtual assistant and store specialist for founders and small ecommerce teams. Two years inside Shopify's technical merchant support. Theme work, product data, daily orders, page speed and search, done directly rather than explained back to you.
Six things I take off a founder's plate. Commission one, or the whole series.
Full storefronts from an empty admin, or precise edits to the theme you already run. Written into the theme, not bolted on with another app.
Bulk imports, variant clean-up and structured attributes for brand, format and origin, plus the collections and filters on top of them.
Orders, inventory levels, refunds and the customer inbox. The unglamorous daily work that keeps a store trustworthy.
Find what genuinely slows the storefront, then correct it in the theme. Images, blocking scripts, layout shift, app bloat.
On-page SEO plus the newer requirement: being the brand AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity choose to cite.
Flow for the repetitive work, gateways and checkout configured correctly, third-party apps wired to communicate rather than conflict.
Each with its full label: what was wrong, what was done, what came of it.
A café-ingredient distributor carrying imported brand lines, running entirely brick-and-mortar. High overhead, reach limited to walk-ins, and no catalog structure to build anything on.
Selling online with a catalog structured to grow, bulk updates handled through Matrixify, and alerts running without anyone watching the admin.
"Add the Taste Culinary Food quote here — hung beside its own work, where it does the most."Client name · Taste Culinary Food
A modern-luxury womenswear label with a growing catalogue, where every new section risked breaking the brand's typography and colour rules. Deploys went straight to live with no staging step.
New sections land inside the existing system rather than beside it, and every deploy traces back to a commit.
"Add the Adahlia Boutique quote here."Client name · Adahlia Boutique
Stock counts and prices arrived in a different shape to the Shopify catalog. Reconciling them by eye was slow and produced quiet errors that surfaced later as oversells.
A repeatable check the owner runs themselves, with the risky write step kept under human approval by design.
Every commission opens with a free thirty-minute consult and a written audit, ordered by what will actually move revenue. You keep the list whether or not you engage me.
From April 2024 to April 2026 I worked inside Shopify as technical merchant support, front line for merchants worldwide. Themes, apps, payments, checkout, DNS, domains, gateway failures. When something broke badly enough, it reached my queue.
That work taught me where stores actually fail, which is seldom where the owner suspects. The app everyone blames is usually innocent. The undocumented theme edit usually is not.
I now do the correcting directly, freelance, for a deliberately small number of founders and teams who need someone able to read Liquid and answer a customer email in the same afternoon. Before Shopify: two years of high-volume data processing and a year coordinating patient care, which is where the catalog discipline comes from.
Everything I ship is documented, so you are never locked into me. That is deliberate, and it is the whole point of keeping the body of work small.
A complimentary thirty-minute consultation. Bring the storefront and the problem, and you will leave with a straight answer either way.
